Since professional dance groups are staging folklore choreographies, their interpreters must be educated in the general knowledge of the ethnic dance. It is like learning another language. In this respect, the character dance studies must be oriented towards details of rhythm and specific movements. This means concentrating all the characteristics offered by the traditional dance into short and comprehensive exercises.
Theodor, during his vast experience with professional Romanian and foreign ensembles, conceived 5 different programs of studies at “barre” and “middle” which prepare the dancers to better understand and reproduce the specific movements, rhythm and style of the Romanian dances.
